Introduction

Essensium's offering of products for Location Aware Sensor Networks is based on two key technologies: the LOST RTLS technology for ranging and tracking and the ultra-low-power Wavenis technology for wireless sensor communication. Location awareness is a key parameter in many business processes, not only in logistics and transportation but also in security, healthcare, asset management and distributed sensing and control systems. Location tracking will lead to increases in productivity, reliability and security.

The LOST RTLS products perform Real-Time Location in Wireless Sensor Networks. They accurately determine the position of a sensor in both indoor and outdoor situations. The LOST RTLS products operate in the ISM band and have an accuracy better than 1 meter making them suitable to accurately trace the location of individual assets or people, both indoors and outdoors, even in densely packed warehouses or crowded places. LOST RTLS is superior to any other RTLS technology since it does not require tedious characterization or fingerprinting and it maintains the same level of accuracy over hundreds of meters allowing for a cost effective implementation with reduced infrastructure needs.

The use of the ultra-low-power Wavenis communication technology allows Essensium to deliver products that combine best in class performance in both ranging accuracy and battery life-time for location aware Wireless Sensor Networks. Wavenis technology has already proven its performance in applications such as Automated Meter Reading in several millions of devices and is being futher integrated into the ASSP products of Essensium through close cooperation of Essensium and Coronis.
