Investors

Essensium is a spin-off of the international research center IMEC. It was founded in March 2005. IMEC provided the majority of the 1.1 million Euro of initial seed funding.

In March 2006, Atlantic Quantum became a strategic investor, through an investment of 6 million Euro.

    IMEC is a world-leading independent research center in nanoelectronics and nanotechnology. Its research focuses on the next generations of chips and systems, and on the enabling technologies for ambient intelligence. IMEC's research bridges the gap between fundamental research at universities and technology development in industry. IMEC is headquartered in Leuven, Belgium. Its staff of about 1400 people includes close to 500 industrial residents and guest researchers. In 2007, its revenues are nearly EUR 245 million.

  • Atlantic Quantum (AQSB)

    Atlantic Quantum is wholly owned investment subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd., the investment arm of the Malaysia Government. Atlantic Quantum is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    Atlantic Quantum makes strategic equity investments within the semiconductor and micro devices industry. It focuses on investing in promising IC design and fables semiconductor companies that can leverage on Silterra's core competencies.

    Silterra is a leading pure play foundry with advanced CMOS process technologies based in Kulim, Malaysia. It is a sister company of Atlantic Quantum, and majority owned by Khazanah Nasional Bhd.
